Utility Report

Utility Clean Energy Leadership Index

The Utility Clean Energy Leadership Index will track and analyze the clean-energy activities of top utilities and independent power producers (IPPs) in the United States. By acquiring data directly from utilities and other sources, this report will be the go-to resource for understanding the clean-energy landscape and large-scale deployment. Interested parties must confirm participation by March 01, 2012.

Utility Index Structure

Other Key Insights Provided by the Utility Index

  • Utility-level progress toward meeting renewable portfolio standard requirements and other clean-energy mandates
  • Utility deployment and management strategies to meet future clean-energy goals and plans
  • Impact of clean-technology pricing trends on market adoption and deployment
  • Highlights of independent power producer actions, goals, and targets (see more details below)

Tracking IPP Innovation

The project will also include in-depth research focused on the activity of IPPs. The deployment of renewables, efficiency measures, and other clean-tech solutions are rapidly evolving beyond traditional utility boundaries. Therefore the report will cover the activity of non-traditional energy providers to understand how utilities will face disintermediation from a host of new entrants and to paint a clear picture of the deployment trends for various clean-technology solutions.

 Target Indicators Include

  • Utility Clean Electricity Generation and Capacity (Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Hydro, and Biomass)
  • Distributed Power Generation
  • Planned Clean Energy Generation
  • Strategy for Meeting Goals and Requirements (RECs, PPA, Own and Operate, etc.)
  • Energy Storage Capacity
  • Smart Meter Deployment
  • Net Metering Energy Displacement & Customers
  • Load Management Energy Savings
  • Energy-Efficiency Energy Savings & Expenditures
  • Green Pricing Electricity Revenue & Customers
  • Grants, Rebates, & Loans
  • Performance Based Incentives
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
