Indian Energy, an independent power producer focused on acquiring and operating wind farms in India, has announced that it has entered in to a Framework Agreement with Trishe Developers Private Limited for the development and acquisition of up to 1000 MW of wind farms in India. Trishe Energy is a developer of wind energy in India, bringing together capabilities in wind energy project development and EPC. The Agreement provides for Trishe to undertake the development of the projects, which Indian Energy will acquire once certain development milestones have been reached. Indian Energy and Trishe envisage that approximately 300 MW of projects will be commissioned during 2013, a further 350 by 2014 and the remaining 350 by 2016.

The projects will be implemented across a number of States in India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The wind turbines will be supplied by various manufacturers, with each project utilising the most appropriate turbine technology for the site. Indian Energy will be selling the power generated to both State utilities as well as industrial customers.

Indian Energy was one of the first internationally based IPPs to enter the Indian wind market in 2007, and the group currently has 41.3 MW of operating capacity across two wind farms in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Indian Energy was acquired by Infrastructure India plc in September 2011. Trishe Energy is currently executing development orders for 800 MW in India, and its group affiliates are prominent developers of wind energy and oil recycling in the US. The Company and its affiliates are privately held.
